Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge # 11

I woke up at 1 a.m. this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Finally, about 3 I got up and thought about making a birthday card for a friend of ours or some Operation Write Home cards. Then, I saw the sketch for this week's challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog on OWH and figured I'd work on it.

This is my idea for this sketch.

The "Happy Birthday" is a Hero Arts stamp which was stamped using Stampin' Up ink. The 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 paper is some I've had for a couple years but haven't used until today. It's made using a technique that my daughter, Dawn over at The Chatty Stamper discovered which uses shaving cream and ink.

It's very easy to make. Just put shaving cream in a pan, add a few drops of whatever ink colors you like, swirl it around a bit, put your paper down on the shaving cream (we used heavier weight paper), pull it up, wipe off excess shaving cream, let it dry and there you have it!! We had fun using this technique because no two papers come out the same.

Hmmm, couldn't sleep because you needed to make this card?! I have that happen sometimes, usually I get up in the morning with one on my mind I have to make. It turned out great, I like the colors you used and the shaving cream technique is cool, I need to try that!
